I am working on an exclusive basis with a high-growth, national legal and professional services business to appoint a Senior Associate or Partner into its expanding Business Tax team in Birmingham.

This is a standout opportunity to join a firm that has built a truly national platform outside of London, advising a diverse client base of corporates, investors, owner-managed businesses and high-net-worth individuals.

The Opportunity

This is not a traditional tax role within a siloed legal team.

You will be part of a fully integrated, multi-disciplinary business, working closely with Corporate, Real Estate and Private Client teams on complex, high-value matters.

The team advises across the full spectrum of business tax, including:

• Corporate transactions (M&A, restructuring, investments)
• Structuring and tax-efficient planning
• HMRC enquiries, investigations and disclosures
• VAT, customs duty and international trade considerations
• Real estate tax (SDLT, capital allowances, VAT)
• Share incentives and management equity structures

The practice supports clients through transactions, growth phases and long-term wealth structuring, ensuring tax efficiency and compliance at every stage.

The Role

Depending on level, you will:

• Advise on complex business tax matters across a broad client base
• Support corporate transactions with specialist tax input
• Lead client relationships and act as a trusted adviser
• Work collaboratively across multiple service lines
• Contribute to the strategic growth of the tax practice

At Partner level:

• Lead or build a team
• Drive revenue and client development
• Contribute to wider business strategy

About You

• UK qualified Solicitor, Tax Adviser or equivalent
• Strong experience in business tax / corporate tax advisory
• Background in a law firm, accountancy firm or mixed practice
• Commercial mindset with strong client relationship skills

For Partner candidates:

• A following is advantageous but not essential
• Demonstrable leadership or team development experience
